Good morning, sunshine

Posted 8:08 am EST

Lovin' this love photo/wallpaper/or animation still...I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it caught my eye on the FormFiftyFive [sic] site (tagline "Inspiration from around the world"), where I stumbled into the Interior / Environment category. It's from a London design studio called Spring Studios. I can't tell ya who the artist is, since once you get to Spring Studios' website, there are a lot of Flash elements going on, which I'm kinda over....maybe it's a phase for me, I don't know. But I find myself hitting the "back"button the instant I see a Flash countdown/countup/loading animation doohickey. They always feel like ticking time bombs to me. And I really recoil at site messages that warn "this site requires Adobe Flash Number so-and-so." It always seems a bit passive aggressive. I know what they are really saying is "Hey there, just wanna let you know, if you don't have Flash yet, don't even think about entering this site. Our design genius will just be wasted on you. Mm-K?"

One woman that flatters every hair color

Angelina Jolie arrived in NYC on Thursday Oct 3, and attended the premiere of her new film The Changeling on Friday, Oct 4 with a new darker hair color. Oh, yeah, Brad was there too. She looks particularly well-rested and hydrated after a seven hour flight with six kids aboard to pacify, some literally. OK, cheap shot, but it's true...

BLONDE Bananas

Posted 7:41 pm EST
Ooh-LA! We are lovin' on this French Vogue twitter thing at Paris Fashion Week! From the NoirBerry of one FV editor: "La banane, coiffure de l'été chez Saint Laurent " (translation explanation: "the banana is the summer hairstyle at YSL")

It seems "banane" is the French way of referencing the "French twist," à la "pompadour." It took me a while to sort out myself since I never wore a "banana twist," nor an Elvis 'do while in France. But then I stumbled upon this pic which made it all so crystal clear, et voilà:

New York Magazine "Loves" - In A Wrong Way

Posted 11:30 am EST
So, yeah, I woke up a little late, not like me, I know. I usually pride myself on having the surfer spirit: up at dawn to check the waves - even when it's a sea of yellow (HONKING - geez, HUSH, already) taxis outside my window....

Any-who...so, I just ADORE New York Magazine's website (NYMag online is a way more rad experience than print) and I was just about to post a rant about how I clicked on the Juicy Couture ad (it had surfboards and pretty colors in it, O-K?) and how it took me to the JC site and I couldn't get back to NY Mag....any-who.

I finally got back, and saw this GREAT story that will change BLONDE's life: "French ‘Vogue’ Twitters" You see, BLONDE speaks French; bien sur! Well, we used to when I studied French Lit/Art and lived in Paris....but BLONDE doesn't have a copy editor double checking the inferences and meaning of her every word on posts. Also, BLONDE is a tow-headed baby and can afford to make a few mistakes, because she is not under as much scrutiny as NY Mag, which I hope has a team of clever blondettes, brunettes, auburnettes, and silverettes combing the site for such things.

OK, OK, already...so what's this have to do with NY Magazine's expression of love? Well, when I first read the post I was all excited and thought - "those clever NYMaggies, look at them being all on top of it and speak enough French to follow the twitter," and then I read their sign off: "Nous adorons!"

I'm no French scholar (well, I was, but that was soooo long ago) but I'm pretty sure they just said "We love ourselves!" - and I think what they meant to say was: "Nous l'aimons!" or "Nous l'adorons!" (translation explanation: the addition of the "l" creates "We love IT")

BLONDE has a handsome French friend who's like super-smart! We love asking him (you know who you are) about the various nuances and translations of words from English-to-Francais and vee-chay ver-sa. Keep you posted on what le mec nous dit.... xo - Bob

BLONDE Goes Red for Fall

Posted 8:27 pm EST
I'm sure many of you already dash over daily to the pic-driven blog The Sartorialist to see the most lovely pics by Scott Schuman of the most stylish men and women in the most chic cities on the globe. Not only are the people Mr. Schuman shoots so incredibly dressed and brimming with personal style, but the photos themselves are breathtaking. Especially if you are into that type of lush natural light (and shooting) that makes everything crisp and clean in the foreground and lets the backdrop go just a bit hazy so the subject stands out even more. (Reminds me of the beach-scene shoots Gilles Bensimon often did when he was still with Elle US - read more of Elle's 2007 editorial transition, here.) The woman in red (above) was shot in the West Village in New York City by Mr. Schuman and posted on 9/12/08. She's wearing what a cab driver once called "car to bar" shoes when he spied my own spike heels, and insisted on driving me (meter off) right up to the door of the restaurant despite stand-still traffic and being just 30 feet from my destination. As a BLONDE, I've never been into red (the combo always seem to scream "cheap" even when the quality of the dress or bag is not). But this fierce brunette is inspiring me. The dress may be ultra-simple, but with the right shoes (her Christian Louboutins) and bag (a BLONDE pleated Miu Miu, I believe), she strikes a perfect balance (no pun). I also love the black lace (click on pic to enlarge and see detail) evening shoes worn for day with a relaxed earth-tone bag. And, don't even get me started on the extra-large gold men's watch and dark polish mani-pedi (perfect final touches). Her entire look is just quelle Elle.

I was so inspired, that I'm considering breaking my no red rule and have zeroed in on the following look from Net-A-Porter.

Clash of the Titans

Posted 4:46 pm EST
Not a terribly sexy post, but neither is Sarah Palin. I found this Sarah Palin Debate Flow Chart (above) in my inbox from a clever friend (and fellow BLONDE) politico-type in DC. I thought it was very amusing, but what is more interesting is as I am writing this post, a car is driving by (in NYC) and I can hear "The Magnificent Seven" by The Clash coming from it. According to Wikipedia, TM7 "is the first major white rap record, predating the recording of Blondie's Rapture by sixth months." I call that six-degrees-of-BLONDE.

Go BLONDE, get confident

Posted 10:51 am EST
A Clairol-sponsored study in the UK says half of the women they turned into a tow-head, reported feeling more "impulsive, sexually exciting, rebellious, creative, attractive and able to deal with criticism" after going BLONDE.

We found this little golden nugget of info at another one of our favorite witty online blogging BLONDES: Lemondrop. And we're lovin' on the name of the poster "Lauren Fritsky".....purrr....she's just one letter away from sex kitten.

Like being BLONDE, peace is always in style

Morning! Your hair looks amazing like that! I totally dig the bedhead vibe; so sexy, especially when you sip your coffee while peering over the rim at me.

So, BLONDETTES (as well as brunettes and auburn-ettes, and silver-nettes), on the heels of last night's oh so serious evening in with the VPC debate, and the "he said/she said" fervor, just two words for the candidates, and esp. for whomever takes office: "Come together."

But these politicians probably won't do that since they are taking different sides --except on gay marriage-- what is up with that?)....so, how about, "World peace?" Are those two good words? I wanted to keep it to just two words, so it would be easy to remember 'cause I know how crazy things can get around this (election) time. Do you think we could all agree on WP. Hmm? Sound good? OK, we're cool, then? Great! I can already tell it's gonna be a fab day! - xo, Bob

(btw, this shirt is by one of our fave T-shirt companies Worn Free. And I came across it at Kaboodle where their tag line is "Shopping is more fun with friends" - we concur!)

Biden is BLONDE!

It's 9:07 EST PM and settling in to watch the VP debate with live commentary from one of the most clever BLONDES on the blog block, Jezebel.com. Listen, I don't claim to be the brainiest BLONDE out there, but, pure politics aside, doesn't Sarah Palin sound just like your first grade teacher, rather than a Vice Presidential candidate?

This is just from the very first 15 minutes of the debate:
"you betcha"
"hockey mom" [2 times in 7 minutes]
"Joe six pack"
"a heck of a lot of good lessons"
"let's do what our parents told us"
"darn right!"

Update at 9:28 EST PM
OMG - she did not say this, did she?
"It's a toxic mess on Main Street that is affecting Wall Street." UM, Sarah, ain't it the other way around? You betcha!

Update at 9:35 EST PM
I just had several more OMG moments.....burning coal and drilling for oil are perfectly safe? wha?! global warming is NOT caused by man? huh?!

Update at 10:00 EST PM
JOE, please stop saying "BUSH-es" - I think I counted 10 in under a minute....(manly, yes, but you're startin' to sound silly...)

SARAH, please stop pronouncing nuclear as "NEW-yo0-CLEE-air."

Update at 10:12 EST PM
Sarah says, "You get extra credit for watching this debate." See, SP really is our former first grade teacher, just with better cheekbones, and highlights.

(btw, we don't have Photoshop yet, so can't do the before [silver fox] and after [golden dapper debating dude] comparision, but we're pretty certain that is a BLONDE rinse on BIDEN at the debates; proof that Senators prefer BLONDEs)

Brigitte Fridays (early)

I saw this pic of BB and just had to treat you! I really wanted to start Brigitte Fridays, or maybe Brigitte Sundays, or BLONDE Mondays, so you have something bright and BLONDE to end or start your week with. Well, while I decide how to pay homage to our original inspiration, enjoy this bright ray of sunshine goodness.

It's October. Time to Touch Yourself

One of the many, clever, smart, talented stylish BLONDE friends we love - Marisa Acocella Marchetto - who keeps it real and oh so chic. Cate Blanchett will play her the movie based on her cartoon book Cancer Vixen....can you believe it! BLONDE stunnah Cate to play you in a movie - the ULTIMATE! (Btw, that handsome Italian gent is her hubbie, Silvano, of the infamous NYC BLONDE hangout, Da Silvano)

BLONDE Addendum on 10/2/2008: I realized that "cartoon book" may sound a bit dismissive. This is serious story of a woman who woke up in the freelancer's fast lane in NYC, with breast cancer and no insurance (like many if us free spirits).

About this book: “What happens when a shoe-crazy, lipstick-obsessed, pasta-slurping, fashion-fanatic, madly-in-love, about-to-get married, big-city-girl cartoonist with a fabulous life finds . . . a lump in her breast?”

Namaste, from Bob

As promised! Here is Gemma and the gang on the first ever issue of Vogue India (Sept 07). Now, get your pencils out and a VERY long piece of paper (recycled, silly) so you can jot down the names of all these gorgeous gals that make us want to reach for the dark hair dye.

(left to right)
Bollywood star Bipasha Basu, model Gemma Ward, Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, India supermodel Monikangana, Bollywood star Preity Zinta and int'l supermodel Laxmi Menon.

Faithfull BLONDE

It's singer and 60s/70s groupie Marianne Faithfull (that's NOT Mischa Barton) as a strawberry blonde. LOVE the leggings... ahem, body stocking. Sexy. So much lace actually makes the look kinda sweet and demure, don'tcha think?

Just like being BLONDE, world peace is always in style.

Kate. To infinity and being BLONDE

Kate, Kate, Kate. We can't get enough of Kate M. Even the "Kate Moss" font is cool...geez...

Mia a moi!

(a.k.a. Mrs. Frank Sinatra)
This is the original political mama and adoption advocate (sorry, Angie, Mia has been there, does that) and wonderful citizen of the world!

As an ambassador for UNICEF, Mia has lobbied for help in Darfur, Angola and Chad, and most recently Haiti. Read her personal appeal and insight on the desperate situation (scarce food and water after storms) in Haiti at CNN.

Goldie Rocks

Kate's mom! Goldie Hawn is NO dumb blonde - she was one of the first women in Hollywood to have her own production company. Confession: we've seen Private Benjamin 100 times...oh, to watch Judy Benjamin hook up with the dreamy non-blond actor Armand Assante after months of boot camp and no bootie...sigh (you know, AA was in Little Darlings with another fave BLONDE, Tatum....so many BLONDEs, so little time...)

We could go on and on about our fave Jew Bu, but we gotta go touch up our roots! - xo, Bob

Kiss me, Kate

Kate H! That beach hair! That smile! The boys! Sex kitten and sweetheart all rolled up in one BLONDE package. And, we always LOVE her look: effortless chic is always in style.

Call me...BLONDE

Debbie Harry! The lead singer of Blondie. Of COURSE we will add her picture into the BOB album...but we know how much you love to shop....so we wanted to share the perfect pillow to place your BLONDE head at night...as IF you sleep at all, you sexy thing!

We found it at Urban Outfitters, ya'll.

THE muse for all rock n roll loving blondes

The original BLONDE rock star wife - before Jerry Hall..no literally, Anita Pallenberg was Mick's girl BEFORE Texas blonde Jerry Hall was betrothed to him. Not only did Anita get to date (read: shag) 3 of the Rolling Stones, she speaks 4 languages and is the trifecta of cool: model, actress and fashion designer.

She's so cool - even the cool kids at the Huffington Post are obsessed: (um, did we say the word "cool" yet?)

Ich bin ein BLONDE

Heidi! At her blondest. Host of the addictive Project Runway and the one who taught us the only German we know: "Auf Wiedersehen!' But BLONDE will always be "IN" fashion! Don't-cha just love Heidi's Temperley of London dress too... xo, Bob

Gemma Peace

Vogue's favorite doll-faced IT girl (Gemma Ward) - the wun-dah from down-undah. Gemma was also on the cover of the first premiere issue of Vogue India with some of her brunette model BFFs. We promise to post that stunnah of a pic soon! - xo, Bob

And God Created BLONDES

Le debut pic that started it all, and first inspired us to GO BLONDE. C'est Brigitte Bardot. Whether sultry blonde, smoldering brunette, or fiery redhead, we still love 'em all! Now, let's see who has more fun!
-Enjoy! xo, Bob
