Ooh-LA! We are lovin' on this French Vogue twitter thing at Paris Fashion Week! From the NoirBerry of one FV editor: "La banane, coiffure de l'été chez Saint Laurent " (translation explanation: "the banana is the summer hairstyle at YSL")
It seems "banane" is the French way of referencing the "French twist," à la "pompadour." It took me a while to sort out myself since I never wore a "banana twist," nor an Elvis 'do while in France. But then I stumbled upon this pic which made it all so crystal clear, et voilà:
